Application to Cambridge Programme at Brentsville District High School
If you are applying to the Cambridge Programme at Brentsville District High School, you will need to submit two to three teacher recommendations in addition to completing the Specialty Program (Cambridge Programme) online application. The recommendation form is also an online form. Teachers should complete the recommendation form online on Brentsville District High School's Web site. All forms are due by February 15, 2012.

Parent Portal
The Parent Portal is currently experiencing technical difficulties at all county websites. PWCS is actively working with the vendor to identify and correct the situation.  Our district administrator has posted an announcement on the log-in page, and will post another announcement once the problems have been resolved. 
Author Visit
The 7th grade students heard author Kristin Levine speak in conclusion of a grade-level Language Arts assignment to read her novel The Best Bad Luck I Ever Had. Forty students accomplanied Levine to the library for refreshments and an opportunity to ask her questions.  To read more about this special event, please click on the link below:

Semester Exam Schedule

Battlefield Rising 9th Grade Parent Info Night
There will be a Rising 9th Grade Parent Info Night held in the Battlefield HS auditorium on Wednesday, January 25th at 7:00 p.m.  This transition meeting is for all parents of 8th graders who will attend Battlefield next year. 

Brentsville Course Selection Info Meeting
There will an informational meeting on the course selection process held in the BDHS auditorium on Thursday, January 26th at 8:30 a.m and 7:00 p.m. Parents of 8th graders who will attend Brentsville next year should plan to attend one of these meetings, where you can learn about the course selection process, graduation requirements, the Cambridge Program, and PWC Specialty Program.

Benchmark Tests
All language arts, math, social studies, and science teachers will be giving benchmark tests to help gauge student mastery of the Virginia Standards of Learning. These tests will be given within the following time periods:

Semester Benchmark Tests
Between January 19, 2012 & February 3, 2012

Third Quarter Benchmark Tests
Between March 21, 2012 & April 13, 2012

These assessments assist teachers and students in accurately identifying areas of need for additional instruction, study, and review. Specific information on these assessments will be available on each individual teacher's class page during these time windows.
2012 SOL Writing Field Test
Beginning in Spring 2013, the Standards of Learning (SOL) writing tests will be administered online.  In addition, these tests will assess the full implementation of the 2010 English SOL and will include technology-enhanced items.  In preparation for these changes students will participate in a full-scale field test for the writing assessments during the 2011- 2012 school year.


During the week of February 13, 2012, eighth grade students will be participating in the Spring 2012 Online Writing Short-Paper Field Test.   The Online Writing Multiple Choice Field Test will be administered to eighth grade students between March 20, 2012 and March 27, 2012

Parent Portal
Bull Run Middle School staff members are available to collect parent portal forms in the front office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Parents need to show a photo id and give the signed form (e-mailed to them within 3 days of initial registration) to a front office staff member to have their account activated within 2-3 school days.  More information on this process can be found by clicking on the "Parent Portal" tab on the left side of the front page of this website.

All students are responsible for knowing and meeting the expectations contained in these two documents. Questions about the contents of the Code of Behavior or Student Handbook should be directed to the appropriate grade-level assistant principal.
Statement on Storage Space and Personal Property
Bull Run Middle School provides storage space in various forms, including lockers, for personal student property throughout the school year. This space is provided as a convenience to students and parents. Bull Run Middle School is not responsible for the replacement of personal property stored at school that is lost or stolen. This includes clothing, electronic devices, musical instruments, and other potentially high-value items. Students and parents who choose to utilize school storage for personal property do so at their own risk.
